I am working on the attitudes of people on trees on the street which abut their properties.Street Trees are a necessary design elements in the streets. People are aware of their benefits and also can perceive their presence in tropical climates But one can see the transformations happening and streets are denuded of trees. why then are the people not keen on planting trees are retaining them?

You have to really be focused either for estimation or comparison or both as far as attitude analysis is concerned. Simple estimation techniques supported by appropriate sampling design will initially provide you the current attitude of the people.
