he forth revolution has already started and its fully intesity will be after 2020 year. In my opinion Vison 2020 in ICT sector (based on 5G, IoT/IIoT and OTT services... and many new others) will be bas for the forth industrial revolution or for Industry 4.0.

How long will it take to Industry 5.0? But as you have written and compared time differences between previous industry revolutions, time between them are from 200 (Industry 1.0 - Industry 2.0) to 30 years (Industry 3.0 - Industry 4.0), the fifth industrial revolution or Industry 5.0 could be based on Vision 2030 in ICT sector or maybe on Vison 2040 in ICT sector. I do believe that Industry 5.0 will be started between 2030 and 2040 (let's say 2035 year and it will be based on 5G+ (and further 6G), on stallite mobile communications, holograms, augmented reality. The world will becaome "a global willage" and it will be norma that you from Hungary or I from B&H/Croatia (or maybe our children :-) ) work for companies those are locared in San Francoisco or in Tokyo.

Telecommunications world becomes FLAT and all communications will be moved to mobile Internet. Every part of the Earth (99,9 %) will be covered by Internet mobile signal. Telecom operators (and all other companies from any other industries) which won't be ready for these changes, will disapear and new ones will be initiators of Industry 5.0.

So we all ar moving toward big changes. And after Industry 4.0 I believe Industry 5.0 will be started 2035 or 2040 year and it will bring much more changes than Industry 4.0.

Could we say that, further than information driven globalization, the subject of the fifth industrial revolution will be unconstrained proliferation of system intelligence (beyond artificial/machine intelligence) and that it will actually be a techno-social revolution?

you're right - the fifth revolution will be really, at the first, tehno-social revolution. And when we mention "techno", the main part of "techno" will be ICT sector based on mobile Internet (everywhere), IoT/IIoT and OTT applications.

When we mention "socio" or "social" - it will be mainly based on preparing people (our mindsets) to new kind of our lives - "work on distance" and "augmented reality" as a normal (and regular) issue. And information will be the most appreciated product / service.

Very interesting discussions. Thanks, gentlemen. I think the distinction between Industry Revolutions will continue to be rather hazy as we moved on. Some claimed that the 5th IR will be more neural than technology the way we knew it. I think it will just happen without us knowing about it exactly. Some others claimed that the 4th IR was made possible by the advancement in digitization. I am quite concerned of the impacts of these later IRs on education. Surely, I would argue, that there is going to be an inter-dependence between the advancement of technology or neural development and how our next generations are either educated or educate themselves. I would like to think that those of us involved in education/higher education do get concerned about what we are doing in education right now. What are we doing about it? My observation is that we moved relatively extremely slowly compared with advancement in technology. Rote learning had been there for centuries and many of education experts had said that it (and memorization) is simply not a good learning methodology. But we moved (slowly) to blended learning, flipped learning and others known by other names and of course now we talk a lot about MOOCS. Some of us even talked about an expiration date for our university degrees. In my opinion this thought is not to be sneezed at. So how we address this? In the final analysis perhaps we have to accept that education and higher education the way we know it, will need to be replaced. By what??? that's the question.
