I've been trying to set up a calibration curve for H2O2 spectroscopically but haven't been able to determine what wavelength this should be at? Various sources online say 570 nm whereas others say 240 nm. Could someone please explain to me which wavelength I should use? Thank you.
Hydrogen Peroxide by itself is invisible in the UV-Visible (it's like water). Thus, it has to be reacted with a reagent which gives you either 240 or 570 nm!
Hi Tarit, you should scan the range from 200-700 nm by yourself. H2O2 has its UV absorbance in the range of 200 nm-300nm, since I did the experiment. If unavailable, then you should choose the wavelength, where the molar extinction coefficient is not too high or too low for your purpose. In your case, 240 nm is applicable as the initial step.
