Hi Madhusudan K.S. In a classroom, you need to establish ground rules. These rules are stating by students to regulate the discussion and activities in the school. For example, we will be punctual; we respect the views of each other; we will debate issues rather than argue. These rules should be written by a scribe (a student) on the while board. Students should pass these rules to him/her. Also, a recorder should record them on a piece of paper, and copies given to each student (member in the group). You may, as a teacher, have rules such as mobile phones are off during the class. You are a member of the group, so these rules also apply to you. Your role is to remind them of these rules when something wrong happens. Role modelling and acting professionally with no bias will bring the session to function. You could give feedback to the group at the end of the week. Respecting students and engaging them and the distribution of roles are all critical actions you should take in the first session.
