I am currently attempting to grow single wall carbon nanotubes and I ran into an issue with growing the carbon nanotubes under 1 nanometers in dimension. I am using a solid state catalyst setup with Magnesium oxide as my substrate/support for my iron nanoparticles. I am aiming for 0.5 nm in diameter for the single wall carbon nanotubes. Any suggestions?

So far with the current information that I found. It all depends on the nanoparticle catalyst size. The goal is to prevent the nanoparticles from clustering/aggregating inside or on the surface of the support. Solid state catalysts are the best for making single wall carbon nanotubes with a specific diameter and chirality. Then the method is probably going to be ccvd or fcvd. The real question is how to reduce the catalyst particles to those sizes, which are desirable.
