The term single or nuclear family refers to a household consisting of a father, a mother and their children all in one household. A joint family is considered bigger compared to a nuclear family because a joint family includes grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and in-laws, aside from the typical mother, father, and children.
Elderly care home is not that familiar in South Asian countries. We can see so many elderly care homes with better facilities in South-East Asian countries and also in USA and EU countries. Joint family is still the rural culture of most of the South Asian countries. At the old age, people are helpless and they have nothing to do without depending on his or her children. Only a few who have that empowerment or assets they can get some benefits from the family but in other cases they are neglected most of the times even we can see the issues are more prominent in this Corona crisis.

Exactly. It depends on the context they living. Urbanization disintegrates the practice of joint family.
