Hello, I can think of a couple of theoretical perspectives for your consideration; Activity theory and situated learning theory . They both provide conceptual resources for analysis of the practicum as professional growth and development into a social activity (teaching profession).
Hello.. I suggest avoiding any theoretical positions that assume that failure to apply teaching training in schools is to be blamed on the students or the schools. Teacher education programs, if they attempt to introduce culturally irrelevant progressive concepts, can be the problem!
