Limonene is a better solvent than cyclohexane (It depends). It is good for greasy compounds. I would like to learn mechanism of solubilization effect of limonene in terms of solubilization energy. Will it be a good extracting solvent as well?
no-hetero atom in it but it has two double bond brings to slightly polar even though it is more of non-polar nature & its reactivity towards other organic compounds are less even though it will oxidise further comparatively less in reactivity. it will dissolve the polymeric material as it is non-polar nature, usually water can dissolve only the polar materials and what we are calling as stain is polymeric compound which can be removed by non-polar solvents, compared to other petroleum solvents, this is pleasant in smell makes it to primary level.
