I got a coal crop line map to support my study (Figure below), i didn't know how to read this map. what's the difference with contour based map? what steps are needed to make a coal crop line map? and for what it does?
This is usually applied using the "Path Finder Method" where the source points are traced and then moving forward whenever there in increase in the values until reaching the main source.
The coal crop line indicates where the coal seam roof/floor intersects with the ground surface. On your map you can see the contours - which will be contours on the floor of the coal seam most likely - showing the seam dipping away to the north. Where the contours stop is where the coal seam intersects the ground surface, and thus to the south of that line there is no coal 9at least in that seam).
