I am trying to purify a reaction product of hydrosilylation with a styrene compound using Karstedt's catalyst. However, it seems to be cumbersome for the following reason. After purification by column chromatography, NMR shows a mixture of products that are not necessarily what I was targeting (reaction of Si-H with the alpha-carbon in the alkene). I found that there are reactions that happen such as the Markovnikov, anti-Markovnikov and dehydrosilylation, but I was wondering if there are more. TLC shows a stream of products that are very hard, if possible, to separate.

Karsted's catalyst is a complex of platinum (0) with 1,3-divinyl-1,1,1 ', 1'-tetramethyldisiloxane, as well as its analogs. The catalyst is used in low concentrations (10 ppm by Pt) and with its help it is possible to obtain a enormous amount of properties of compounds for optics, electronics and medicine. In the reaction with styrenes, as you write, a large number of compounds are formed. The system needs to be simplified.
1. check the number of analogs in the catalyst mixture. Take an individual connection.
2. Use only one isomer of styrene without impurities.
For analysis, use a chromatography with mass spectrometer.
