What role do AI-powered decision support systems play in enabling farmers and policymakers to implement adaptive strategies in climate-smart coastal farming?
AI-powered decision support systems help farmers and policymakers in climate-smart coastal agriculture (CSA) by analysing weather, soil, and crop data to guide adaptive strategies. They enable timely, data-driven decisions on irrigation, crop choice, and risk management, enhancing resilience to climate change and improving productivity in vulnerable coastal zones
I do support the potential of AI in all sectors and AI presents numerous ways to inform decision support in coastal farming of which i wont go into the vast possibilities. However, one must be cognisant that sometimes AI may not have a completely accurate or 'deeper contextual' understanding of certain key aspects as what human experience can bring, in this case being in coastal farming. Hence it is good to have a balanced approach of both AI and human phenomenological experience in any decision support system. Thank you.
