Especially "Manipulation" is inherent in politics as Aristotle said that man are zoon politicon. I recommending you Biopolitics Neo Darwinian, especially study of ethology and neurobiology. Politics always deals with power, and power is scarce resource. Then, we need to struggle in order gaining power and defend it. In Biopolitics, manipulation, deception, tradeoff mechanism, bonding, coalition-alliance are the typical forms of politics. Politics lies in grey area, not too bad or too good morally.
