Hi everyone,
I'm finding a lot of different answers to this question and struggling to find sources for any of them. Can someone please point me in the direction of a few quality research articles that estimate the proportion of arthropod species relative to the rest of the animal kingdom?

Well, it coveres only numbers for known species and only the major groups (so Myriapoda are covered in "other invertebrates"). However, this might be a good number to start with.

According to Zhang (2013) the Arthropoda is estimated to have 1,302,809 described species, relative to the rest of the animal kingdom ( 250.000 species). The Insecta (1,070,781 species) is the most successful group, and it alone accounts for over 80% of all arthropods. The most successful insect order, Coleoptera (392,415 species) and Lepidoptera with 250.000 species.
