I would like to combine data of mothers and fathers (data on parenting stress) in one single parenting stress variable. Unfortunately I am limited to non-parametric methods as my data are non-normally distributed and the total amount of participants is 15 (of which 15 mothers and 14 fathers filled out the questionnaire). I already checked for differences between mother and father scores using a Wilcoxon signed rank test and found no statistically significant differences (I assume this is the correct procedure?).
What method do you suggest? If you need any additional information, please do not hesitate to ask!

Would it make theoretical sense to take the rank order of each parent, and then use the average rank order? I am assuming that at least some of the parents are matched pairs (mother & father of a particular child). For single-parent households, you could just use the rank order of the parent you have. In determining rank order, you could use the full sample since there was no difference between mothers & fathers.
