sorry, that didn't reply immediately. my flight for Thailand and couple day preparations was enough exhaustive. But now i'm much closer to Macau and can reply. I agree completely with your identification of Chapter, but should say that troubles appear like with scientific monographs. Even about month ago when our collective monograph about mini-GPP in the Carpathians have passed Scientific Council in Lviv (Ukraine) some professors hasitate that it is monograph, as to many co-authors (33). But the main idea was common, as style of explanation, region, and the main goal...

For my opinion, the problems appeard when no precise identification of subject and how score is calculated. Several times, e.g. in RG I saw that for completely identical publication with my co-author we got the different evaluation.

As well, I do not now, how to claim the wrong and not honest input in RG: like with this guy (comparatively, as 40-45 years should be a well brought  scientist, some of our community of this ages got even Noble price) from my dep. that imitate that 1 page in the popular book can be Chapter! For me important is more intensive cooperation in exchanging of sci. information, like published as not published (in project). Science are for the faceful, pure and honest people, if somebody doesn't agree should go for politics...

Will be glad to see any opiniom.

Andrey, Ivo was right: chapter is a separate item of a book. Typically a book has 10-20 chapters written (in most cases) by different authors. If a book is written completely by one or several authors, then it is a monograph. If one wants to present his monograph on RG, it goes as 1 publication. Chapter in a collective book is also 1 publication. But if your colleague is a coauthor of, let say, 5 chapters in a book with 20, then he can put them as 5 publications. I have contributed to several books, but only to one chapter in each. There are cases when one author contributes to 2-3 (maybe with different coauthors, and those names are written on each chapter), but more is a very rare case.

You are right. But my example is case of Ass. Prof. Mateleshko who is my younger colleague in Uzhgorod University, who made from his popular book with a lot of co-authors 52 Chapters or like that. If he did it like chapter Orthoptera, Hemiptera etc., and translate it into English, so it will be activity in right way and I will say nothing. But he did it totally wrong and grew up from 4 RG score to more than 18 one day!!! Simply to make fictive authority by separate pages. Before I criticize him I tried to right letter but he didn't reply! Any respect! But he is not exclusion. May be you know Ukrainian, even understand, so can follow my explanation in RG about stupidity and corruption at Uzhgorod National University, esp Biological Faculty. No chance to rise Ukrainian science that lost completely not bad quality of the Soviet science. And I'm completely down of all this.

I suppose that Alexander want to show everybody only his own work, and every species page from this book he published separately is well done(photo, text, citations-in many examples based on his own works). Maybe it shouldn't be classified as a Chapter, because Chapter is Coleoptera, but if this Chapter have more co-authors but is divided in species pages done by one person alone so maybe it is only nomenclature problem with  RG (and score calculation).

glad to hear you. You was afraide that yours RG score raised too fast... Because you are perfect young scientist and you will have perfect future.

It isn't so with Dr. Mateleshko. Do not try to justify him! First week he put all this pages like articles!!! NO EFFECT from RG. After that he tried like Chapters and was lucky. He thought that everybody swallows it. But I have more than enough all this "biological" bustards from Uzhgorod that imitate scientists.  It can be if all scientific values are deteriorated by separate persons. I WROTE HIM A LETTWER AND WORN HIM. No effect and no respect. Evben not replied. If a person can act this way, so cannot believe his results completely. You are right. Should be e.g.  like Coleoptera, Odonata etc. Translate into English and put. Explain the main idea of the book and can do... For such idea I was told by Bill Bourland, who asked me to translate some Chapters into English.

Moreover it is not legislative book. And all scientists participated... YES, I RESPECT SOME OF THEM. But they all are not extra authorities in invertebrates or entomology. No any specialized Commission that analyze the question and discuss the every species!  RED BOOK CANNOT BE LIKE FOLK STORY. OR LIKE I HAVE THIS PHOTO AND PUT!!! ANS THIS HAVE NO... So, a lot of awful mistakes.  

Should say, that two others I marked in my working papers now repair, and exclude papers that not  belongs for them but not this guy... Stubborn...

Conclusion. He knows very well what he is doing. It is dishonest for all colleagues and all principles of  RG. After that I’m not believing in scientific results of this “scientist” as he can fake everything. OR YOU HAVE CRITERIUM how to select? Or he is like famous Professors Obcharenko or Boiko that have the same RG score and working hardly of all their lives to achieve? Where are his publications in some famous journals? Only not enough good reviewed articles in third sort manuscripts or popular books. 

Some his colleagues did the same (put like Chapters separate pages!), and inform him that can do. But they were not so avaricious, so I didn’t react. If normal situation at the University Rector or Sci. Prorector put him into place in a moment, but both our are like a goat for the cart!!!

As for all that RG score-it is worth almost nothing and is absolutely non comparable. And I will be very happy having my score without any bonuses. It is absolutely sick and unnecessary.

Some people like to have that they are good at what they doing, but the best confirmation is respect from colleagues and collaborators.
