Cuando nos referimos a una comunidad ecológica, lo entendemos como un conjunto de seres vivos que habitan en un mismo lugar, o sea, a una agrupación de seres vivos de muchas especies biológicas como son los microorganismos, vegetales y animales; ahora el potencial biótico, es justamente la capacidad de reproducción en óptimas condiciones de esta diversidad de especies que conviven en un biotopo determinado.

La comunidad ecológica tiene su propia carga de energía, que influyen de manera armónica con los ciclos biogeoquímicos, ni más ni menos, la diversidad de especies es el puente entre el equilibrio de lo biótico y lo abiótico, si esto está en desequilibrio, una población de especie o todas las especies no podrán desarrollar al máximo su potencial de reproducción o potencial biótico en condiciones idóneas para su convivencia.

An ecological community is defined as a group of species that are commonly found together. Ecological communities may be animal or plant assemblages with similar habitat requirements and contain species which may influence each other or rely on similar processes in their environment. An ecological community consists of various organisms in an area. From a theoretical systems viewpoint, an ecological community is the aggregate of organisms in groups that eat one another and that are eaten by one another, and it is a trophic structure made up of trophic compartments. Species interactions within ecological webs include four main types of two-way interactions: mutualism, commensalism, competition, and predation. Because of the many linkages among species within a food web, changes to one species can have far-reaching effects. The composition of an ecological community, which has two components: the number of different species that live in the community and the relative abundances of those species. An interaction between two species in which one species benefits and the other species is harmed. As we learned from biotic potential, if individuals have the ideal circumstances, they can reproduce without limit, which causes population increases. When a population grows and begins to reach the carrying capacity, the population begins using resources at an equal rate to which the resources are created. Biotic potential refers to the inherent power of a population to increase in numbers when all environmental conditions are favorable, whereas carrying capacity refers to the maximum population size that a given environment can support for an indefinite period or on a sustainable basis.

An ecological community is a group of interacting populations of different species that live in the same area. The carrying capacity of an ecosystem is the maximum population size that the ecosystem can sustain.

The biotic potential of a population is the maximum number of offspring that a population can produce under ideal conditions. However, in nature, populations rarely reach their biotic potential because of limiting factors, such as the availability of food, water, and space.

The ecological community and carrying capacity can affect whether or not a population reaches its biotic potential in the following ways:

• The ecological community can provide the resources that a population needs to survive and reproduce. For example, a population of deer will need food, water, and shelter in order to reach its biotic potential.
• The carrying capacity of the ecosystem can limit the number of individuals that a population can support. For example, a pond with a limited amount of food can only support a certain number of fish.

If the ecological community does not provide the resources that a population needs, or if the carrying capacity of the ecosystem is too low, then the population will not be able to reach its biotic potential.

Here are some examples of how the ecological community and carrying capacity can affect the population size of a species:

• A population of deer may reach its biotic potential if there is a lot of food and space available. However, if the population of deer grows too large, it may deplete the food supply and the carrying capacity of the ecosystem will be exceeded. This can lead to starvation and death in the deer population.
• A population of fish may reach its biotic potential if the pond that they live in is large and has a lot of food. However, if the pond is polluted or if the water level drops, the carrying capacity of the ecosystem will be reduced. This can lead to a decline in the fish population.

The ecological community and carrying capacity are important factors that affect the population size of a species. By understanding these factors, we can better manage populations and protect ecosystems.
