Thank you, yes I have gone through some papers regarding the reaction mechanism in diacetylenes. My question is that is it just the triple bond conjugation which is responsible for UV sensitivity? Any compound having conjugation will have the same behavior?
The pi electrons are only weakly bound, and are excited into antibonding orbitals, which can interact between molecules to form the polymer, leaving the sigma bonded carbon to maintain the backbone.
