I am trying to establish what may have been driving brines in the lower Transvaal Supergroup rocks at around 620 Ma. Most tectonic activity during this period seems to be too distal (e.g. Damara Belt - which is also probably too young?)  to have any influence on hydrothermal activity.  The Kheis event is too old.  Perhaps some localised magmatism during that time? Any insights by people who have worked in this area would be much appreciated.
