I am looking to do my dissertation on pornography use and content and the attitudes of viewers towards females and males.
I dont know of any specific questionnaires that deal with the topic of pornography or attitudes toward a certain gender.
Could someone point me in the right direction please?
First of all I think it would be important to clarify what questions you're trying to answer - in terms of attitudes. Attitudes towards what? Pornography in general? Certain kinds of pornography? Towards pornography consumtion of the other gender? etc.
Second you should try to focus on pornography consumtion in general and analyze a gender difference second, because IMhO one shouldn't assume that there are differences in the first place, rather show the differences (if existing) in the data - if there aren't differences between genders it would be an interesting finding, too.
Third it would be relevant to take the country-specifc laws about pornography into account, because what is considered as 'pornography' or 'pornographic' variies by country and sometimes by state, too. Furthermore one could think about what the answering persons are considering (!) as pornography/pornographic and what not. This also means that you have to develop a definition of what - in the context of your study - will count as pornography and what not and have to present this definition to your subjects. This seems relevant to me, because it makes a huge difference if e.g. someone considers soft-pornography as pornography whereas someone else is only considering hardcore-pornography as pornography - two whole different perspectives on the same topic, which can influence the answers you get greatly. So, in other words: the basis for the answers should be clear and equal for every answering subject.
Since this is a quantitative research I don't mention the heteronormative resp. heterobinary setting of your study (only 'men' and 'women') - but you could for example take the sexual orientation of the subjects into account, too.
