As a student of economics, I don't have much experience with mining techniques, but I do have a little understanding of economics and econometrics.

So far as I know, data that has a time component is referred to as temporal data. It could be any other sort of data with a timestamp. Both point-based (contains discrete timestamps for particular events) and interval-based (focuses on the gaps in time between occurrences) temporal data are possible. Some of its examples are; e-transaction records, historical events, flight or train arrival and departure time, health monitoring as blood pressure changes, stock prices at different points of time etc.

A time series is a particular kind of temporal data in which data items are tracked at equal time intervals. The analysis and forecasting of trends, patterns, and behaviours over time are frequently done using time series data. Some of its examples are GDP, M1, M3, Per capita Income, annual net revenue, monthly Sensex data etc.
