That's a good question. I would love to work with a leadership that wasn't afraid to take risks and push boundaries. But I feel that the nature of leadership in higher education is conservative and that the sheer size of HE institutions means that they are hard to direct and slow to change. There is also the question of accountability - which leaves many institutions focusing on paper-work and quality assurance rather than pursuing new approaches. In summary, I think we need and would benefit from dynamic and cutting edge leadership BUT we won't get it.
