I'm looking for a journal in which to publish a case study about a new approach for comprehensive assessment in order to gain insight into the effect of treatment. As such, it's not a typical case study paper in which a unique case is described, but instead, a unique method, illustrated with a case. Also, given the long methodology, the word limit shouldn’t be too restricted. The case is on a child with cerebral palsy. Happy to get ideas!
PLOS Medicine has no word limit, an impact factor of approx. 13 and accepts research articles that involve methodologies that may include "... diagnostic testing, predictive and explanatory modeling...and clinically-focused translational research."

I agree.
However, my understanding is that if your paper describes a unique method, illustrated as a case, it can be categorised as a methods/modeling paper with an example of use/outcome. It may ultimately depend on how your manuscript is framed.

The International Journal of Rehabilitation is a USA Journal that can publish your case study.

The American Journal of Occupational Therapy or the British Journal of Occupational Therapy would be excellent options. Pediatric occupational therapists do a lot of assessment and intervention with persons with cerebral palsy and the journals routinely publish case study articles.
