In the open source environment why not few projects in Remote sensing/ GIS ( due to free data and software availability) which will be done remotely by pooling different interested high skilled researcher and should be supervised by international scientist. What is your view?
Interesting point. In my view, this should be a good oppurtunity to work together and make high quality output but my concern is - How this approach is different than other international research initiatives and what are the good practice to make it happen?

It is similar to collaborative international research like the IPCC for climate change research. I think focusing on key international issues with such models could be helpful to use such open source datasets and software and apply to find solutions that are broadly applicable.
I always wonder about this issue, its remarkable if all project can be coordinated and with certainty it will play major role in advancement of Remote sensing and GIS problem solving capability.
what we need is to take this issue one step forward to collaborator and create that window where everyone can participate from different corner.
