What is your understanding of reasoning engines?

I just wanted to understand from your point of view what you understand from this term :"Reasoning Engines".

As far as I am concerned ,I reflect around any reasoning system that has its personal framework and approach to tackle reasoning or analysis like :

- Fuzzy Logic and Neural Networks.

Can you share your view on it if possible?
