As it is known, for bulls in semen production centers in many countries around the world, to be used in embryo production with the desired health criteria and health conditions for donor cows are almost the same. According to some researchers: “Health in a bull that produces thousands of doses of semen per year.It is understandable that the criteria are very strict. However, just for a donor cow that can produce 20-30 embryos per year.It is not right to ask for the same health criteria” What is your opinion on this argument?
There is no other country applying very strict and unnecessary health conditions for donor animals like us since IETS considers those diseases are not transferred via embryo transfer. All countries use IETS manual for embryo transfer. The problem in our country is not to work based on merit. The Ministry issues instructions without consulting real specialists who have merit. This question should be asked to Dr. Senem who is responsible for preparing the instructions.

In my oppinion there should be the same health criteria for donor cows as well as bulls producing IDs. It does not matter how many embryos or IDs are produced. The spreading of any potentially dangerous disease has to be stopped in every case and we need to do the best of us to fullfill this commitment. Of course the ratio behind this is that disease is spred via semen or embryo.

To me, the current or existed disease-free protocols should be followed strictly. This is a reproductive hygiene or sanitation issue and taking down the existed standarts just legalize the lower standarts and never improves anything. If you are satisfied with lower hygiene standarts why then keep very high disease-free standarts for embryo and sperm import?

(The third countries in question: Australia, Switzerland, Canada, New Zealand, USA, Israel etc.

Both AI and ET are physiological applications. But disesases are pothological status. physiological treatments can only be performed in healthy animals. I think the existing standart are appropriate. Lower standarts lead to spread of diseases and deterioration of animal healthy.

With the use of reproductive biotechnological methods on reproduction, the spread of infectious diseases from female or male animals always poses a risk. Therefore, in my opinion, strict action should be inevitable for both sexes. Considering our animal population and yields, it is an important fact that animal health and the success of reproductive biotechnological methods may be adversely affected by more unknowns.

Brucella, Tuberculosis, IBR, BVD, Leucosis, Bluetongue. For example you need to get PCR test for Bluetongue in donors for every two months (6 times/year). This is not logical and lots of cost. For others there are test requirements too. Other example is that your donors should be negative for both antigen and antibodies and it is not almost possible to get donors because of vaccination.
