Many countries are currently on lockdown, with many researchers working from home. Some journals take as long as 6 months or more for the review of a submitted article. Do you think the review period will be affected positively or negatively within this period. Give reasons.
How are you responding to pending article reviews awaiting your attention or new review requests, during this COVID-19 pandemic?
I think because of the COVID other areas will suffer as COVID is taking at least a big share of attention in every journal. Reviewing might be delayed as everyone is busy, tensed and bored.

Schools are also shut in many other countries outside Europe.
I was expecting it to take longer time to review and publish but I am seeing in many reputed journals the inundation of topics published specially on covid 19

We think that there's a competition between researchers to edit articles, which means the number of expected articles will increase significantly. this is to understand the new disease, its behavior, etc ...
But we have to be careful in the analysis of data.
With my experience it's been positively affected. Some friends and colleagues of mine have told me that their reviewing processes were faster after the lockdown.

It may be positively affected, especially taking into consideration that one is now indoors and there is time for such activities to be undertaken.
