Since Sequential circuit has feedback and manly stores data but Schmitt trigger does not stores data but have feedback, so what kind of Schmitt trigger can we say?
If you think of the Schmitt trigger as a machine which output actually is determined by both current state (due to thresholds) and the input then it comes naturally that it is sequential. But as pointed very well by Edward Fisher it is a rather pointless characterization for analog circuits.
The Schmitt trigger converts an analog signal into a digital signal, so it is not logical to ask yourself if it is combinational or sequential , because this characteristics applies to digital circuits
