Parents must be re - educated and sensitized on their familial roles once again by seasoned Educationists, Sociologists, Psychologists and Philosophers.
The 6 - 3 - 3 - 4 system of education has failed us. We should thinker and brain - storm collectively about going back to the 6 - 5 - 4 system of education, with a comprehensive specialized curriculum embarked on teaching religious instructions - both Islam and Christian in schools, teaching history and geography once again in primary schools, teaching the three major tribal languages (Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba) in schools. I feel baffled when children in higher primary school ask me where Nigeria is in the world? The Menakaya books in geography - where are they? All these subjects needed to be taught from primary schools to secondary level.
To set up "ANTI - CORRUPTION VANGUARDS" in secondary schools and tertiary institutions to expose criminal activities at any level it is being perpetrated.
For the government to de - emphasise on certificate qualification as a criteria for employment in any establishment, be it government or private, but rather to stress on aptitude and critical thinking skills as a criteria for employment.
To check the menace of god fatherism or god motherism in all facets of the economy be it in politics or in employing people in key positions in the society.
To check the menace of occult groups and their nefarious activities in the society.
To abolish all the so called "Special Centers" where exam malpractices are licensed to take place. This will make students study for their exams, and to know that there is no hiding place for exam cheaters.
To check the activities of both primary and secondary schools to ensure that things are properly done. Students should wear well and descent covering uniforms to preserve their dignity as women according to the teachings of Islam and Christian religions.
Seamstresses and professional Tailors should be contracted for sewing primary and secondary schools uniforms as before. Students should no longer be allowed to sew their uniforms by themselves again, as this breeds a culture of irresponsibility and indecency among youths.
Graduates and youths should be sensitized against traveling abroad for greener pastures, except in exceptional cases of professionalism. Everyone saw what happened in Libya and even in South Africa. There is a lot of redeeming work to be done in Nigeria. All hands must be on deck to do that.
The Nigerian society needs massive over - hauling to save it from further decay.
If this present menace is not checked, Nigeria will be a country of hooligans, renegades and charlatans in the next ten years.

I think your question concerns all the topic about how education contributes to better morals and behaviours. I think if you go through literature, you will justify that these issues exist in almost every country.
One thing is true: the society changes, morals change, people change therefore education changes too. Change is inevitable.
My concern in the U.S. is less global. About 20% of children in public school don't learn to read well enough, early enough to succeed academically in public school. If you were to check, I believe you would find that those same children inhabit our prisons, which are peopled with individuals who can't read.
I think that no religion condoles evil, especially killings, corruption and adultery.
Education is the bedrock to any country's progress and development. Then we, adults have to pioneer the productive changes that we want to see in the society.
From my own personal experience, I think that most public schools are better than private schools. Since my life, I have been studying in public schools. the only I was opportuned to study in private school was when I was in Belgium. I did my Master of Arts degree in International Relations at the prestigious, reputable and most expensive school in Europe - Boston University, Brussels, Belgium. A school where most American leaders and Diplomats studied.
In public schools, you find qualified teachers who are being paid by the government as and when due, and you also find pre - cocious, intelligent and talented children that one can compete with.
That is why when measuring the intelligent quotient of children, it should be rightly done in public schools.
Yes, if we make our values and principles over - ride the "national ethos" , then we will be on our way to self and national recovery.
Education is a surest way to gain anything from material worldly possessions to spiritual calmness. Hope, struggle, hard work with faith will eventually lead us to the better place than prior situations.
Do not lose hope if children are unaware where the Nigeria is on map, it still exists, and it will exist Insh Allah. It is never too late to show them the world map and tell them, here is Nigeria; no matter what if geography is not my subject; I still can tell them here is Nigeria on map.
For me, teachers can transform ordinary human beings to extra ordinary individuals who will strive for better world for upcoming generations.
