VANET is an application of mobile ad hoc network. More precisely a VANET is self-organized network that can be formed by connecting vehicle aiming to improve driving safety and traffic management with internet access by drivers and programmers.
Here Question What is the type of Computing for example(mobile computing , ubiquitous computing , grid computing ,etc...) used in VANET?

The autonomic systems have a detailed knowledge of their internal state as well as their environment using a continuous monitoring of eventual changes that could affect their components. Detecting changes induce the autonomic system to adjust its resources and the monitoring continues to determine if the new measures satisfy the desired performance. That is the closed control loop of self-management
systems. It enables autonomic systems to make adequate decisions while conforming to global objectives without human interventions thanks to measurements collected from its resources. This closed control loop is implemented by autonomic managers, which control managed resources using sensors and effectors manageability interfaces.
I Think That are the specific characteristics that distniguish the autonomic computing compared with the other type.
The responsible unit of computing in VANET is the OBU (On Board Unit). You have to investigate it's implementation: it differt from an automaker to anaother. The the best of my knowledge, the type computational is not normalized until now.

VANET is sub-class of MANET with some unique features such as high mobility and dynamic topologies. Basically three types of communication in VANET: Vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-infrastructure and hybrid. So, mean pure ad hoc communication and with infrastructure or mix communication are in VANET. The infrastructure and vehicle nodes are equipped with communication units with GPSs. These networks are self-configuring networks. The VANET is a type of mobile computing with some more features.
