Currently dengue fever is a great threat for Banhladeshi specially for the city dwellers. Hospital has not enough space for their treatmemt and everyday few people are died already. So need your opinion for the treatment procedure.
As far as I know, no specific treatments are available (not even on Clinical Trials, but I'm not sure).
Dengue kills mainly due to distributive shock due to endothelial dysfunction with fluid losses to the third space. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs increase the risk of severe dengue.
1) Prevent dengue (use of repellent, vaccination on people with a documented previous dengue infection if they can afford it)
2) Instruct ALL patients to avoid NSAIDs and to keep hydrated
3) Identify patients at risk of severe dengue (usually patients get worse on the second episode of dengue due to a different serotype)
4) Severe dengue often develops after fever subsides, and patients may complain of headache, altered mental status, vomiting, abdominal pain, cough and dyspnea; teach them these alarm signs; if you can have a blood count, a worsening thrombocytopenia with improvement on hematocrit may be a clue that things are about to go wrong
5) If feasible, admit patients with severe dengue to Intensive Care Units; use IV fluids and transfusions as needed, but don't be too aggressive as fluids will mostly leave the vascular space and can cause severe complications (as pulmonary edema)
6) Always exclude other causes of severe febrile illness (malaria, typhoid, and so on - I bet you know your local epidemiology better than anyone outside of Bangladesh)
This depends on the severity of the infection. Severe Dengue (according to WHO classification; mostly a second infection with another of the 4 serotypes) frequently needs to be treated on ICUs, as it may lead to severe bleeding and shock. Uncomplicated Dengue infection is treated symptomatically, e.g. by reduction of fever etc. Never use ASS in Dengue infection.
the treatment is symptomatic not anti viral treatment , however, keeping patient hydrated is a key to overcome severe conditions. The Ist episode remains as normal fever but if encountered with any of four serotypes which wasn't the previous one adds severity which might need medical attention at priority . some drugs must be avoided like disprin and brufen etc.
There is no known treatment for Dengue fever. However, the symptoms can be managed by using non-aspirin based pain relievers and oral rehydration/IV fluid therapy.
Hello, the Berkson and Gage equation for dengue fever
St= [p + (1-p)]*R = about 50%.
were St is the proportion of people surviving at any given point in time, p is the proportion that are permanently cured, and R is an exponential curve that represents the survival of the non-cured people.
Bir Jahangir Shirazy sir at present there is no any particular drug available against the dengue virus so the best will be the prevention from Aedes mosquitoes biting.
in case if someone infected due to dengue than we should hospitalized the patient and at home treatment give hem more coconut milk(green coconut water) and boiled papaya soup these are effective to increase platelets count
Papaya (Carica papaya) leaf extract is now being widely used as a treatment for Dengue fever in many Asian countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia.

It is depend on clinical manifestation + hematological manifestation
Management of dengue:
Symptomatic management
During the febrile phase, liberal oral fluid administration and antipyretic treatment with paracetamol as required is recommended.
Other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should be avoided. If the patient has access to a health care facility nearby, he or she can be managed at home with observation of daily full blood counts. Excessive vomiting or diarrhea resulting in dehydration, severe prostration, or early bleeding manifestations are all indications for admission to hospital for close observation.
Interesting discussion. I've had Dengue once, caught it in Dili, it was not pleasant. I have been told by Singaporeans that Mango leaf alleviates Dengue.
There is no specific medicine to treat dengue infection. but there is symptomatic treatments like use pain relievers with acetaminophen and avoid medicines with aspirin, which could worsen bleeding. You should also rest, drink plenty of fluids
