What is the suitable way and typical procedure to obtain graphitic carbon nitride from urea ?

I heated 30 grams of urea in a AZAR FURNACE at 450°C during 2 hours but all the compound disapeared. I tried several time by reducing the heating time and my using nitrogen gas but finally i obtained a small amount of CN 1,3g. when urea was mixed with water and heat i obtained only 1,5g of CN on 30g of urea. Please I need your recommendations and your advises. Thanks very much

Make sure you use a crucible WITH a lid. The lid helps to contain the gases that develop at around 250oC which is mandatory for the formation of graphitic Carbon Nitride. Regarding the yield, all papers suggest only a small yield, in the region of 4% of the precursor.
