Why do you choose the number 1,000 seed for screening Arabidopsis transgenic lines? Is that a standard?

I agree with Lisa's suggestion. I have also found differences in weight and size of seeds from different accessions. Col-0 can be a guideline, but if it matters to you and you need to compare different accessions, I would also advise on getting an approximate reference for each accession.
