Gold doesn't bind with carbon in my case i deposited carbon film on gold mirror and then removed Carbon film from gold mirror using laser cleaning method. In my case there was a shift in binding energy of carbon in case of intact gold film and laser treated gold film so i thought some carbon may be present in the interstitial position of gold..
