when I read an article I found that they used two antibiotic-resistant genes but they did not insert the interested gene in one of them and they did the propagation in E.coil with the use of one of the antibiotics for selection then they transferred the plasmid to L.lactis and used the other antibiotic. both antibiotic-resistant genes are in different directions. what is the idea here in the selection, why they did not use one antibiotic-resistance gene for both bacteria?

the name of the article "In vitro inhibition of H. pylori in a preferential manner using bioengineered L. lactis releasing guided Antimicrobial peptides"
