It is very much possible, especially where there is a distance between the place of production & consumption and the consumption center has a concentration of large power consumers.  

Whilst sharing always has a dimension of fairness, the idea that this is particularly relevant to power consumption is a myth. The technology to replace fossil fuels by renewable energy is well developed, and it is time to build the installations.
