Globalization is already at hand. Through internet revolution the definition of geographic distance or location has undergone compression and even "annihilation". Question is, how prepared our students to accept global challenges? What is the role of the university to smoothly usher in globalization?
i think universities are the best place to train students for the emerging global challenges. Professors should actively update their students about whereabouts and current trends of the fields concerned.

The 'role of the university to smoothly usher in globalization' is to ENHANCE independent learning and LIFELONG learning. University has o expose students to the tremendous increase in Knowledge, because in schools the syllabus hasn't changed much, although knowledge has increased Manifold! See this thread:

@ Miranda: Yes that's true but is it not that we, teachers, also dictate the curriculum? In the university we have what we call the academic freedom and we revise our syllabi oftentimes to update with the trend. If it has not changed much, then does it imply that most of the teachers/professors have not globally adjusted yet?
