My question is simply based on the observation: if Industry 4.0 is based on computers and artificial intelligence supported by the Internet infrastructure, and computers are so powerful (computing power) that their performance is higher than human, in this sense that any decision made by computer is far better, faster, efficient than taken by human (no matter is it a game or trade decision) what is the role of management?
Management is the most human action, making a decision is based on many factors, which computer can compute faster and faster, so is there any need for human action?
Do we need management in the digital age? What management theory is related to Industry 4.0 or the 4th revolution?
I also recommend you look at the Cynefin model in Snowden, D. J., & Boone, M. E. (2007), "A leader's framework for decision making" (also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7oz366X0-8) . Complexity and uncertainity will always exist. AI may help improve our awareness of what options are available for decision making but part of the issue is understanding the question in the first place. Human oversight and review and human "judgement" will always be required. Isaac Asimov may have imagined the Laws of Robotics but he also imagined an application of psychohistory - neither has yet become reality. Just because we have access to more data, doesn't mean we (or our technologies) understand it any better.

Managers are not replaceable in terms of their function in vision creation and goals setting. Industry 4.0 is a realization of some idea of connectivity and proximity between equipment, machines or appliances.
By analysing the Industry 4.0 studies published so far, it has been discovered that they mostly discuss the technical aspects but do not pay attention to managerial approaches and organisational culture that are a significant factor influencing the success of the implementation of this concept. Implementing the Industry 4.0 concept requires continuous innovation and education that not only depend on people᾽s abilities but also on organisational culture.
There is a need for developing a leadership 4.0 culture in organisations. That is why 4.0 leadership style matrix’ was designed, which is a behavioural style. Digital technologies have an influence not only on the area of information technology but also on how businesses are managed and what kind of leadership styles are applied. Leadership 4.0 stands for leadership in the age of industry 4.0. These 4.0 leaders are called digital leaders. Not every leader in a tech company is a digital leader.
