It is known that it is targeted as an antibacterial drug binding site.

And i`ve read that "interdomain cleft opens and closes during the functional cycle of FtsZ as the protein switches between conformations with different propensity to polymerization in protofilaments" (Casiraghi A, Suigo L, Valoti E, Straniero V. Targeting Bacterial Cell Division: A Binding Site-Centered Approach to the Most Promising Inhibitors of the Essential Protein FtsZ. Antibiotics (Basel). 2020 Feb 7;9(2):69. doi: 10.3390/antibiotics9020069. PMID: 32046082; PMCID: PMC7167804)

I`m not sure why opening and closure occurs and what does it happen when IDC opens?? Are other cell division related proteins binds to this site?

I want to know the intrinsic role of this site during cell division.

Thanks.
