Châu Âu cần đánh giá lại tình thực tế và những mối quan hệ cũng như nguy cơ hiện tại và tương lai trước khi khẳng định "thế mạnh" là gì?

The four economic freedoms enshrined in the treaty of functioning of the EU are only real values existing in the EU. Their interpretation is well established in the EU jurisprudence. There are also other values that flows from the secondary EU laws, all of the also of economic nature. Other values, including so called 'Democratic criterion' are meallable to any political 'sledgehammer' within the EU.

Two key layers define European identity:

1-Europe as a cultural community of shared values (cultural identity);

2-Europe as a political community of shared democratic practices (political identity).

EU values include human dignity, freedom of movement, democracy, equality, the rule of law, human rights.

• Human dignity. Human dignity is inviolable.
• Freedom. Freedom of movement gives citizens the right to move and reside freely within the Union.
• Democracy. The functioning of the EU is founded on representative democracy.
• Equality.
• The rule of law.
• Human rights.

Not sure about 4 ("European values have became more diverse since EU enlargement"). I think most newcomers sign up on the "old" European values, and some efforts of the Hungarian and Polish conservatives to replace secularism with Christianity and democracy with "illiberalism" have seriously been resisted thus far. Yet it may be the case that East-Central Europe's demographic issues triggered more concern with minority rights over the last decades.

Unfortunately, Europe abdicated of any founding values at the time when it proved unble to agree on a constitution, mostly because there were no common historical roots to be found in the Christianity, or in the classical Greek and Roman legacy, or else.

Currently, Europe (EU) in an incomplete political entity based on economy, and very little more.

Ancestor's values, such as solidarity, brotherhood, including even peaceful living (that was the goal being pursued when the CECA and the Euratom were established), or even democracy, are the mere wihful thinking of contingent circumstances, not embedded in any founding document.

Great Charles' and Napoleon's dreams are nowhere in the horizon to be found.

BTW, even economic co-existence, th level playing field, common marketplace and related stuff are flags that flur in the wnd only when convenient to the most affluent parites...
