What is the role of bacteria in increasing the soil fertility and role of organisms in the carbon cycle and the oxygen cycle?
The roles of bacteria in increasing soil fertility include decomposition of organic materials to release nutrients to soil and improvement of soil properties, also, bacteria such as pseudomonas, nitrosomonas and nitrobacter convert organic nitrogen to nitrates which are absorbed by plants..Furthermore,the roles of microorganisms in carbon cycle are that they break down plant and animals remains to produce carbon dioxide CO2 or converts it to dissolved organic carbon compounds.The dissolved organic compounds can bind the carbon to soil particles or release back to the atmosphere and this is a long term storage of carbon while microbes such as cyanobacteria are noted as producers of atmospheric oxygen , also, microorganisms also remove oxygen from the atmosphere for respiration
