Can anyone please help me by providing the relation between the grain size (which is the minimum unit in the material and can be calculated using XRD data) a particle size (which we can find using FESEM)? I want to understand the relation between them, if there is any relation.

XRD data gives crystallite size, not grain size. Grain can have more than one crystallite but all belongs to same phase . A particle consists of one or more grains, all the grains within a particle may not be of same phase.

Thanks for your reply, in papers the authors consider the grain size and the crystal size is the same. and some time they refer to them both by D.
So there is no relation between grain and particle in size and number, right? I mean it is not necessary the particle become big because grain or crystal (D) is big, right?

the term "particle size" or "grain size" is used when the size of individual crystals is less than about 0.1µm (100nm), because a particle of a real cristalline powder sample generally consists of many fine units called "crystallites", which can be considered as a single crystal. Here it should be not to confuse the "grain/particle" and crystallites size. The X-ray diffraction data gives the average crystallite size of our material.
Here attached a simple scheme which illustrates the meaning of the terms discussed above.

Thanks a lot for your response and explanation, you say that the particle and grain are the same, but in papers the authors considered grain and crystal are the same and they called D which calculated by Scherrer equation either grain size or crystal size.
And still there is no relation (I mean equation) between particle, grain and crystal, right?

Actually, in condense matter physics grain and particle size are same but grain word is valid in bulk pelletized powder, which can be seen by using SEM, and particle is valid in powder materials, which can be seen by TEM/FESEM. Both of these are made by Crystallites and inside the grain/particle, crystallites are arrange themselves such that there should be no periodicity break takes place between two successive crystallite in 3 dimensional arrangement of crystalline solid up to the end. But at the just out side of grain/ particle a amorphous layer always expected i.e. periodicity break, which is called grain boundary.
I means both grains and particles are bigger than crystallites in bulk samples, whereas in nano-materials grain/particle may consist only one crystallite also, which means in nanomaterials all three grain, particle and crystallite are almost same and can be calculate from Scherrer formula.

Thank you for your response, but I know that in nano-materials the particle is larger than grain which larger than crystal. I know that the crystal is the minimum unit in the film. The crystal size can be calculated from Scherrer formula, and the particle size can be measured from the FESEM image.
