Normalizing: The first step in the heat treatment process is normalizing. This involves heating the steel to a temperature above its critical transformation temperature (typically around 850°C to 950°C), holding it at that temperature for a specific time, and then allowing it to cool in still air. Normalizing helps refine the grain structure and homogenizes the material's microstructure, improving its mechanical properties.

Quenching: After normalizing, the steel is rapidly cooled by quenching it in a suitable medium like water, oil, or polymer. Quenching locks the microstructure, making it harder and stronger.
