I'm working with Agilent 200 series atomic absorption spectroscopy in the lab. There is no problem when I first started the analysis. As time passes, for example half an hour after starting the analysis, the results start to come out very low. When I analyze the 10 ppm Standard solution for the control, the result is 6 ppm.
Compressor checked, trap checked. İt was no problem.
So what can ı do more? What can be the reason?
Is your instrument very old? We still have an AAnalyst 100, PerkinElmer, which is still working after 23 years of usage. However, 8 years ago, we had to change its aspirator entrance part due to weird readings. The technician explained that the old part had worn out. After changing it, it worked as new. And we are still using it!
Obviously you got some drift, but:

- which is the flame ?
- which lamp ?
- which matrix ?

This problems may be caused for reducing Hollow Cathod lamp light intensity or sample may deposit in burner head .
