What is the reason behind decreasing trend of astrocytes expression after injury in its contralateral control?

we had iradiated left hemisphere of the brain, after injury I initially saw a bilateral in expression of GFAP increasing in both control and the damaged side but it suddenly decreased in the control for some time and then gradually started increaing again, the decreae was not significant but there was a clear trend. Can any one explain this?

why would astrocyte expression suddenly decrease in the control instead of observing bilateral increasing expression
