Going from "old school" advertisements in print or the media to new generation social media and network marketing is the way of the future. Interesting scientific posts that grab the attention of youth and users can very quickly generate interest and traffic to the science musuem. Regular, relevant and interesting posts are important to maintain interest.
I think that this trend should be understood in the broader context of 1) the overwhelming presence of digital and nomade or mobile communication in institutional (and hence museum) branding and 2) the new forms of direct interpersonal communication between people who don't know each other but who share their opinions, believes, impressions, etc. (cf. Cedric Cheong's comment): for instance as tourists (cf. Julio Francisco's comment), students, scholars, diarists, and so on and in using communication means such as blogs, tweets, discussion fora, small interactive video clips, commented photos, etc.

Here in southern Brazil, as for a major brazilian tourist guide '4 rodas' the science museum of Porto Alegre www.pucrs.br/mct is the second largest tourist attraction in southern region, Brazil. Hello Julio Francisco, thank you very much for this really interesting - and exciting - example of Porto Alegre's science musuem as one of the major touristic attraction in Souhtern Brazil.
