I want to cool a 5 watt solar panel with PCM and increase the efficiency. What is the optimal thickness of PCM layer behind the PV panel? (The price is very important in this case)
Please note that PCM is more of a temperature stabiliser than a cooler. So it can reduce temperature excursions in both directions.Depending on the climatic conditions such behaviour might not be best for your location. However, the optimum thickness will depend on very many factors such as length of the time the panel is irradiated, the ambient temperature during the day and night and so on.
I want to test the solar panel with PCM in 5 days and every month.
As for the ambient temperature of day and night, I can not definitely say anything. For example, in winter, the temperature in Tehran ranges from 2 to 3 degrees Celsius and in the middle of the spring is 18 to 20 degrees Celsius.
