I have an algorithm that supports Data survivability in Wireless sensor networks (WSNs|). This algorithm supposes using neighbor discovery mechanism. I want to test this algorithm under ZigBee protocol using Omnet++ with INET framework. The question is, what is the neighbor discovery mechanism that can help me in this simulation. I have read about IPV6 neighbor discovery in wireless environment, but is it appropriate for my scenario which supposes WSNs deployed in unattended applications or under harsh working conditions. , because IPV6 neighbor discovery is used with router ipv 6 and Access point.
for 6LowPan, IPV6 neighbor discovery. In reakity the recomendation is to use the protocolo RPL that has implemented a IPV6 neighbor discovery mechanims. The problem is that inet framework doesn't include the RPL protocol yet.

Yes, you can, it is quite easy, if you activate the hello protocol, and deactivate the intelligent hello (the node always sends hello) you can find in the routing table the neighbor nodes (1-hop nodes)
