What is the most informative approach to assessing the state of soil organic matter in the context of global climate change?

To date, several methods have been proposed for the evaluation of the labile part of the soil organic matter: oxidation by solutions of various concentrations of sulfuric acid, potassium dichromate, potassium permanganate, as well as hydrolysis with cold and hot water and others. Who thinks about this problem?
