I have a special interest on fibroblast and the implication on collagen synthesis.

One factor that influences fibroblast ECM synthasis is ascorbic acid. Collagen synthasis is dependant on it and must be supplimented in the media with feeding (AscA is stable for ~4 days but I've just gotten into the habit of adding it with every feed). AscA is essential for the hydroxilation of proline and the overall stability (triple helix formation) of collagen.
