PAHs can be analysed by several methods. Different studies use different method to get the most reliable measurement. Particle-bound PAHs from air samples maybe have different analyses.
Several possibilities exist for the PAH analysis. Depending on the focal points of your interest I want to suggest direct thermal desorption from the quartz fiber filter, spiked with deuterated PAH as internal standards. This method is working for PAH up to Coronene in our lab. We use a Curie point pyrolysis unit ffom JAI for desorption under He atmosphere. The filter pieceis wrapped into a magnetic pyrofoil with a CXurie pont temperature of 510 °C.
Generally depending on what equipment available in the lab. HPLC has quite high sensitivity for PAHs. (PAHs are first extracted from PM collected on filter).
